Joshi recommended for Chief Justice

Kathmandu, June 12 (RSS): A meeting of the Constitutional Council has recommended the name of acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshi to the post of Chief Justice.
The meeting held at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singhadurbar on Tuesday recommended Joshi’s name for future Chief Justice, shared Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Sher Bahadur Tamang.
The apex post remained vacant since resignation from then Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli in the month of Chaitra last year.
Earlier, the Judicial Council had recommended the names of three justices including senior-most justice Joshi, Om Prakash Mishra and Cholendra Shumsher Rana to the Constitutional Council for the position.
Today’s meeting was attended by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, main opposition party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, acting chief justice Joshi, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Law Minister Tamang.
