Kathmandu, July 16 (RSS): Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management, Raghubir Mahaseth said the government would in no way accept any forms of monopoly and there was no chance for its reversal.
The audacious job of putting deep-rooted monopoly to an end could not revert, he said, asserting that the government would not backtrack from its decision. “Monopoly would not exist in any form and manifestation. The government is not in a mood of letting the guilty go scot free,” Mahaseth said at a press conference at the Ministry today.
The Minister shared that the transport syndicate had come to an end since last April 1 with the amendment of the Transport Management Work Procedure Directive-2060 BS.
No transport committee will be in existence from July 17 so the transport entrepreneurs have been asked to get registered under the Company Act, he informed.
The bank accounts of 245 transport committees have been put on hold for obstructing transport operation by staging strikes, he said, adding that investigation is underway into their bank deposits.
Minister Mahaseth shared that the Ministry has framed a plan to distribute 400,000 driving licenses within mid-August.
