KATHMANDU, Aug 31: ,A total of 10,451 people have been rescued from areas affected by the devastating Bhotekoshi River flood in Rasuwa since August 26.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the Nepal Army has carried out the aerial rescue of 3,344 Nepali and 252 foreign nationals. On August 30 alone, 15 Chinese and seven Indian nationals were rescued from hydropower project sites.
A total of 411 aerial flights have so far been conducted for search and rescue operations in the affected areas.
The search for those still missing is also being intensified. According to NDRRMA spokesperson Shanti Mahat, 903 bodies have been recovered so far, while 4,247 people remain missing.
The floods have affected Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Nawalparasi East and West, Tanahun and Chitwan, among other districts.
A total of 20,819 security personnel have been deployed for search and rescue operations, including 7,894 from Nepal Police, 8,722 from the Nepal Army and 4,203 from the Armed Police Force.
Relief supplies, including food, non-food items, medicines and medical supplies, are also being sent to affected communities.
