Save the Children assists quake-hit school to get new structures

Gorkha, Feb 27 ,, The Surya Jyoti Secondary School based in Sulikot rural municipality-6 in Gorkha has got new advanced buildings.
Earlier, the school had lost its building in the 2015 April earthquake. According to District Project Implementation Unit (Education) chief Ram Prasad Adhikari, the construction of new three buildings with 20 rooms was possible due to financial and technical assistance of the ‘Save the Children’. It cost Rs 38.9 million to construct structures.
The earthquake-resistant facilities are disabled and child-friendly, school management committee chair Ratna Kumar Joshi said. They have different toilet for girls and boys. Prior to this, the school was running classes in makeshift structures (huts).
South Korean organisation’s support to a Myagdi school
Meanwhile, the Um Hong Gil Foundation of South Korea has provided 19 laptop computers worth Rs 1.7 million for operating an e-library at the Suryodaya Secondary School at Bhurung-Tatopani of Annapurna rural municipality-2, northern Myagdi district.
The school management committee president Buddhi Pun said that a representative of the Foundation recently handed over the laptops to the school. The Foundation had also provided support to the school before this also for the construction of the school building. It has so far provided support worth Rs 1.5 million in the physical infrastructure and academic sector.
