Kathmandu, Aug 5 (RSS): The Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed grief over the demise of Syangja district president of the party and former lawmaker Kamal Prasad Pangeni.
In a statement issued today, the former Prime Minister said Pangeni’s death has caused irreparable loss to the NC and democratic movements of the country as a whole. President Deuba also paid tribute to the deceased Pangeni, and extended condolences to his family.
Pangeni died of heart attack in his home district Syangja early morning today. The last rites of Pangeni will be performed today itself, said the NC party office, Kathmandu. NC leaders including President Deuba, Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi, General Secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala, central member Gopal Man Shrestha and chief secretary at the party office Krishna Prasad Poudel are leaving for Syangja today to participate in the funeral procession of the deceased Pangeni, said secretary at the party office Prakash Sharma.
In honour of Pangeni, the NC has asked the central and district offices to lower the party flag at half-mast tomorrow for the mourning. Likewise, the NC decided to close the party district office, Syangja for three days, keep a condolence notebooks at the NC’s central office and Syangja office, and hold a condolence meeting in the district headquarters of Syangja on the 13th day of demise, said Secretary Sharma.
Born on June 1, 1962 at Bhirkot Municipality-6 in Syangja, Pangeni was elected Constituent Assembly member from Syangja constituency-2 in 2070. He is survived by a wife, a daughter and a son.
