India visit a success and fruitful: Prachanda

Kathmandu, Sept. 9 ,,  CPN Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has affirmed that his India visit was successful in giving an impetus for bringing into effect the agreements signed between Nepal and India as well as elevating the ties between two countries into a new height.
Talking to the journalists at the Tribhuvan International Airport today upon his return from the four-day visit to India, Chairperson Prachanda said, “This visit has been successful in implementing all the past pacts and agreements made with India during the bilateral exchanges of visits at the Prime Ministers’ level.”
Stating that his visit was focused on implementation of government’s commitments and agreements with the southern neighbour, Dahal stated that important discussions with the Indian leaders were held on addressing the issues surrounding the bordering areas, increasing the investment in Nepal’s physical infrastructures as well as energy and water resources among others.
Similarly, discussions were held with the high-level political leadership towards implementation of the constitution and materializing the government’s motto of economic prosperity, according to him.
According to Prachanda, “Meetings were held with the political leadership and literati keeping the economic and development agendas of the country in priority.”
Explaining that his India visit was intended to enable environment favoring the government in Nepal formed after a thumping majority, the former Prime Minister shared,” I understood the Indian government and Indian people both wished Nepal to be stable and economically strong.”
The CPN Chairperson further informed that he requested the Indian leadership to provide assistance for the post-quake reconstruction process, construction of the Postal Highway and the implementation of the important agreements and pacts.
He viewed that his visit was successful in enabling environment for effective implementation of the important agreements made during the state-visit of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to India and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Nepal.
Clarifying that there was no political agenda behind his visit, Dahal said he reminded the political leadership about several bilateral agreements, pacts and commitments made by India to Nepal and they were very positive towards it.
According to him, he held meetings with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister for Home Affairs Rajnath Singh and Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj among other political leadership and discussed the issues of mutual interests and relations.
Dahal said that he had also met the Indian scholars, business leaders as well as the journalists during his visit.
As for PM Oli’s latest comment about reshuffling of the Ministers in the Cabinet, Dahal asserted that he agreed with the PM’s view.”I agree with the PM’s view of reshuffling the cabinet. Also, actions will be taken against the Ministers for their wrongdoings.”
Supplementary budget
On a query about the government’s preparation on launching supplementary budget, Dahal replied, “Simple discussions have started taking place to bring the supplementary budget acknowledging the suggestions and feedbacks solicited from the public on social security allowances.”
He opined, “The government would put in place the supplementary budget to address the issues of allowances for elderly. It is the government’s political and constitutional rights.”
