At a public launching of hospital construction master plan, Sunil Khadka of Health Ministry’s Nepal Health Sector Support Programme made public the master plan on new structure of new and old buildings of the hospital.
On the occasion, he informed that the Nepal government will construct the three new buildings through Department of Building Construction and retrofit two old operational buildings with support from the UK.
The well-equipped and modern buildings would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 232.15 million. The new building will have a well-equipped maternity ward, two modern surgical wards, OPD ward, ICU ward, kitchen for employees, wash room, post-mortem ward and vehicle parking. The construction works would be completed within coming two years in three phases.
The new structure would help reduce pressure of patients’ flow and address current mismanagement at the hospital.
Hospital Development Committee Chairperson Prem Bahadur Khadka said that they have been demanding to increase existing 75 beds to 125. He also said the government should increase vacancy for additional doctors and employees as the operation of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has been stalled for no adequate and skilled human resource in the hospital.
