Damauli, Aug 11 A total of Rs. 3.5 million was collected from a Mahayagya organsied at Kesavtar in Byas municipality-14. The Mahayagya was organized in order to raise funds for procuring an ambulance for the locals. The weeklong religious event had begun on August 5 and more than Rs. 3.5 million was collected, according to the Kesavtar secondary school headteacher Durga Bahadur Aley. The mahayagya was hosted by the school. Lack of ambulance had been forcing the locals to pay a hefty amount in order to take the sick to the health institutions from this remote part of the district, Aley said. As a result, the school took the initiative to buy ambulance. Meanwhile, ward chair Kajiman Shrestha lauded the effort saying that the ambulance would expand the people’s access to health services. Pandit Dipak Prasad Poudel was the preacher for the mahayagya. —
