CIAA steps up sting operations in Far-West State

Bhimduttanagar, July 25  ,,  The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has stepped up its sting operations in the Far-West State. Bhimduttanagar-based office of the CIAA had initiated sting operations in the far-west region from Transport Management Office in the fiscal 2072/73 BS. In the last fiscal year only, the anti-graft constitutional body had put in place seven sting operations in the State. In course of the first round of sting operations, the constitutional corruption watchdog body had caught Bhimraj Bhatta of Transport Management Office Kanchanpur, Yadav Kumar Shrestha of Customs Office Kailali, Rajkumar Malla, assistant forest officer and ranger Baburam Mijar red-hand while taking bribe from service recipients. Likewise, in the fiscal 2074/75, the CIAA office had launched three sting operations in Kailali and Kanchnapur. This time the anti-corruption body apprehended Ajit Srivastav, chief of Water Resource and Irrigation Development Division Office, Bhimduttanagar and engineer Grishma Dhungana red-hand while taking Rs 200,000 in cash from service seekers. The CIAA has sent both of them to Kathmandu for further action process. Top Bahadur Bista, Information Officer, CIAA office, Bhimduttanagar, shared that four sting operations were carried out in Kailali and three in Kanchanpur last year. Nine employees were caught red-hand with cash in the last year’s sting operations, CIAA sources said. Likewise, complaints related to graft and irregularities in local governments of the Far-West State are increasingly being registered at CIAA.
