LONDON, June 29, 2018 (AFP) – Britain’s economy grew faster than thought in the first quarter of this year, official data showed Friday, but it still marked a slowdown from late 2017.
Gross domestic product — the combined value of all goods and services produced in an economy — expanded 0.2 percent in the three months to the end of March, the Office for National Statistics said in a statement.
That was a slight upgrade from the previous expansion estimate of 0.1 percent and beat analyst expectations for no change.
However it still marked a deterioration from the 0.4-percent growth in the final quarter of last year.
The modest revision was thanks to better-than-expected construction output, according to the ONS.
