Policy promoting entrepreneurship stressed

Kathmandu, July 15: Speakers attending an interaction programme here today pointed out the need to formulate policy to promote entrepreneurship and achieve economic prosperity.
At the programme organized by the Sushil Koirala Memorial Foundation on the theme ‘Entrepreneurship in Nepal: Social and Government Responsibility’, they spoke of the need to consider amendment in the policies sot that hindrance would be cleared for promotion of entrepreneurship.
Foundation’s President and Nepali Congress Secretary-General Dr Shashank Koirala opined that the politicians, after attending their duty in the their respective political parties, should also invest their sparing time in building and promoting entrepreneurship as he argued that the politics remains a catalyst for change.
He reasoned that issues in society and politics in the country and lack of education impeded the promotion of entrepreneurship in the country.
Similarly, Confederation of Nepalese Industries’ President, Hari Bhakta Sharma, asserted that there were as many as 36 laws that would bring the faulty businesspersons to book under minor errors and said that the businesspersons and entrepreneurs should not be viewed in the light of fraud.
Similarly, speaking at the interaction facilitated by senior journalists Prateek Pradhan, Dean of the Faculty of Management at the Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) Pro Dr Sayalee Gankar said that Nepal possessed a tremendous prospects of entrepreneurship and we need to take into account.
On the occasion, an agreement to coordinate efforts in the field of education, health and entrepreneurship was signed between the Foundation’s President Dr Koirala and MIT University’s Dean Prof Dr Gankar.
