Parliamentary team in Bajura to study ‘Chhau’ practice

Bajura, Jan 31  ,,  A team of parliamentarians has arrived here to take stock of the Chhaupadi practice, an evil practice of banishing menstruating women from home and family to a separate shed that is prevalent in the district. The six-member team is led by lawmaker Ganesh Thagunna.
The parliamentary team has come to Bajura after the death of a woman and her two children in a ‘menstruating shed’ at Aangaupani of Budhinanda Municipality-9 on January 9 in the district drew scathing criticism from all sides.
Legislator Lal Bahadur Thapa who represents the district in the parliament is also on the team.
The team is holding an interaction at the district headquarters in Martadi today on the issue of this evil practice. It is stated that open discussions would be held on the initiatives to be made for rooting out this harmful social practice, Chief District Officer Chet Raj Baral said.
