Minister Pun urges to make investment in Nepal’s energy sector

Kathmandu, July 20 (RSS): Minister for Energy, Irrigation and Water Resources Barshaman Pun has urged the UK for investing in Nepal’s energy sector.
The Energy Minister made this statement during a meeting with British Ambassador to Nepal Richard Morris at the Ministry on Friday.
On the occasion, Minister Pun requested the British Ambassador to encourage the British investors for investing in Nepal’s energy sector since political stability has already begun in Nepal and added that environment was appropriate for the investment in Nepal’s hydropower sector.
Minister Pun also recalled that he had issued a white paper on energy, water resource and irrigation after he assumed the office.
Likewise, Minister Pun asked the British investors for their investment in the transmission line as well. He was of the view that the government was working to make investment-friendly environment and new policy and policy revisions were on cards to lure more investments.
In response, the British Envoy Richard shared the British government’s readiness for cooperation with Nepal in the energy sector and informed that the Department for International Development (DFID) of British government was working in alternative energy sector and committed to continuing such cooperation in the days to come.
