Minister Pokhrel seeks TU attention to quality education

Kathmandu, Aug 20,,   Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, has insisted the Tribhuvan University (TU) should pay its attention to maintaining the quality of its education system.
In his address to the 58th anniversary celebration of Ratna Rajyalaxmi Campus (RR) based in the Exhibition Road today, the education minister stressed that the university should guarantee equality education.
“A section of university graduates are unemployed,” he said, adding that time had come for the university no to produce just graduates but to generate skilled resources so that they could adjust themselves into any sort of job market. He was of the view of developing the university into a research institute. “Education is not for business, rather is for service and works should be done accordingly,” he asserted.
On the occasion, he announced to transform the nation into a full-literate zone within the next two years, calling upon students and students to voluntary contribute to the efforts towards that end.
TU vice- chancellor Pro Dr Tirtha Khaniya highlighted the contributions of college to the promotion and prosperity of educational sector. He said he was committed to improving the quality of TU education system.
Campus Chief Dr Nirmala Kumari Suwal promised to take all possible measures to establish the college established under the faculty of humanities and social sciences as a ‘model’ academic institute.
Toppers among the bachelor and master’s degree graduates were awarded on the occasion. They are Sabina Devkota (BA), Bishnu Dutta Bhatta (MA in Economics), Anju Tamang (MA in English), Prem Kumar Shrestha (MA in Nepali) and Manil Maharjan
