Power cut-off without prior information is frequent in Rupandehi despite government’s announcement of an end to load shedding. Irregular power supply has panicked locals in the hot season. “It is often stated that there is no load-shedding but power disruption is regular. Fans also do not move even if power comes”, shared Geeta Acharya of Butwal sub-metropolis-13. Power outage is taking place in main areas including Butwal, Bhairahawa and Lumbini. People are bearing the brunt of uncertain load-shedding in the hot season. Loknath Gyawali, a local of Shankernagar, Rupandehi, said load-shedding is frequently taking place for four hours a day. Even if it comes the voltage will be low which is not enough to run fans and motors. Besides, the power disruption also has caused trouble in drinking water.”We could not sleep well in absence of electricity”, said Shreedhar Khanal of Butwal. Sanjaya Kumar Mishra, chief, NEA transmission centre, Butwal, however said the power disruption is being caused by breakdown of wires in different places “We need to cut the power supply when electricity poles are to be removed and roads are expanded in the needy areas”, he further clarified.
