Karnali government announces Rs 43.5 million aid to Palata fire victims

Surkhet, Dec 29,, The Karnali province government has announced a relief of Rs 43.5 million to the victims of fire at Palata rural municipality of Kalikot district.
The houses of 87 families at Neupanebada of Palata were reduced to ashes in a massive fire incident the night of December 23.
Spokesperson and minister for land management, agriculture and cooperatives of the province government, Bimala KC, shared this through a news conference here today.
According to her, a meeting of the province council of ministers on Friday evening decided on providing the financial assistance to the fire victims. The 32nd province cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi made various decisions including providing Rs 500 thousand to each fire victim family.
She said the province government has already provided Rs 20 thousand per family and other relief assistance to the fire victims by reaching the incident site the following day the incident happened.
“The Council of Ministers’ meeting has also decided to implement the fire victim rehabilitation programme and provide the model sketch for constructing houses for the fire victims as well as technical assistance,” the province government spokesperson said.
She said the Karnali province government also expressed sorrow over the financial and physical loss caused by the inferno, wishing prompt recovery of health to those injured in the incident. Likewise, the provincial cabinet meeting extended sincere gratitude to the federal government, local government, political parties, non-governmental organizations and the individual donors who lent help in the rescue, arranging the temporary shelters and providing food grain, clothes and logistics support to the fire victims.
The province government also decided to appeal to the governmental and non-governmental organizations and individuals willing to extend cooperation for the rehabilitation of the 87 fire victim families to do so by coordinating with the province government.
Minister KC shared that the province government cabinet meeting decided to cooperate in the implementation of the Federalism Implementation Facilitation Action Plan approved by the meeting of the Inter-Province Coordination Council on December 18.
