FNJ submits memorandums to NCP, NC demanding press freedom

Kathmandu, April 28  ,,  The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has submitted a memorandum to Nepal Communist Party and Nepali Congress, demanding press freedom. A team of FNJ office-bearers this morning submitted memorandums to NCP Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Nepali Congress President, Sher Bahadur Deuba.
The memorandum stressed on strong implementation of National Mass Communications Policy-2073 with necessary revision, correction on provision against press freedom in the Criminal and Civil Codes and proper service and facilities after giving recognition to Nepali media as communication service industry.
On the occasion, Chairman Dahal lauded the role played by the FNJ and entire media sector in the issues of constituent assembly, republic, federalism, inclusion, peace and good governance.
Saying the issues related to press in the constitution are in favour of journalists and press, Chairman Dahal however expressed commitment to holding discussion in the party regarding the issues raised by FNJ.
Similarly, NC President Deuba said that the NC would move ahead together with FNJ in coming days too, recalling that NC has been struggling for press freedom for long.
