Criminal arrested with footage aid

Surkhet, Aug 2 The District Police Office, Surkhet has attained success in arresting criminal with the aid of CC camera footage. Police arrested a motorcyclist who went at large after knocking an elderly woman along the Old Bus Park road section in Birendranagar municipality-6, Mangalgadhi, Surkhet at around 12.30 pm on Wednesday. Pradeep Bahadur Chhetri, Spokesperson of District Police Office Surkhet and Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP), shared that the arrestee was Gagan Gurung, 24, a permanent resident of Gurans rural municipality-1, Dailekh and is currently residing at Birendranagar municipality-5, Chisapani, Surkhet. According to Spokesperson Chhetri, Gurung who was riding the motorbike (Bhe 8 Pa 8160) had fled the scene after knocking Kali Nepali, 65, of Birendranagar municipality-9, Surkhet while she was on her way to Mangalgadhi from Tinkunechowk. Critically injured Nepali breathed her last while receiving treatment at Karnali State Hospital in Surkhet on Wednesday evening. The police had intensified the search for the motorcyclist immediately after the incident. Police had found out the blue-colored Pulsar motorbike (150 CC) that knocked the elderly from the help of CC camera footage. Police took control motorcyclist Gurung and pillion rider Man Bahadur Dhami, 22, of Birendra municipality-5, Chisapani, Surkhet on Thursday. Necessary investigation into the incident is underway, police said. —
