Man gets 10-year jail term for rape

Syangja, Sept 19  The District Court Syangja on Wednesday sentenced a 45-year-old man to ten years in prison for rape of a teenager. He is Rahamad Alimiya also known as Phatte residing in Bhirkot municipality-2 and was convicted of rape against the 19-year-old girl on December 23, 2017, court registrar Nanda Prasad Acharya said. The perpetrator has also been ordered to pay compensation of Rs 30,000 to the victim. A bench headed by court judge Ramanath Poudyal gave a verdict to this end. According to court registrar Acharya, the girl’s family had filed a complaint against Miya at the ward office.Girl’s medical checkup was conducted at the Gandaki Hospital, Pokhara, police said.
