Krishnanagar, October 5, 2024 – At the Inter-Cultural Dialogue Program organized by the Nepal Forum for Restorative Justice (NFRJ), Mayor Rajat Pratap Shah reaffirmed his commitment to societal upliftment and peaceful coexistence. “I have come to lift society, and I will certainly raise it,” the Mayor said, underscoring his determination to bring meaningful development to the region.

Mayor Shah emphasized the importance of Krishnanagar’s Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb, a harmonious blend of Hindu and Muslim traditions. “We follow Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb,” he remarked, pledging that the upcoming Durga Puja and Laxmi Puja celebrations will be conducted peacefully and without conflict. “It is my responsibility to ensure that these occasions are celebrated in peace” he assured the audience.

The event was hosted by Mahendra Khanal, Program Coordinator of NFRJ, and was attended by a range of dignitaries, including the local Imam, Pandit, social workers, the Ward President, politicians, the Police Inspector, and the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) from the Armed Police Force. Each of them expressed their views in turn, echoing the Mayor’s call for unity and peaceful celebrations.

The speakers took the opportunity to express their heartfelt thanks to the NFRJ team for organizing the event, praising their efforts in promoting dialogue and understanding among the diverse communities of Krishnanagar. “We are truly grateful to the Nepal Forum for Restorative Justice for bringing us together and fostering an atmosphere of unity,” said one attendee.

The program, designed to enhance inter-cultural relations, was marked by widespread support from the participants. Mayor Shah’s emphasis on social development, peace, and harmony resonated deeply with the crowd, many of whom expressed optimism for the city’s future under his leadership.
