Monsoon active again with possibility of heavy rain

Kathmandu, Sept 6  Monsoon has become active with the location of the monsoon low pressure system remaining around its normal sphere. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Meteorological Forecasting Division stated that the low pressure system has developed in the proximity of Odisha and West Bengal of India, prompting the monsoon activities to become active in Nepal. Continuous rain will not occur and there will be sunshine for some time while partly to generally cloudy condition with rain will continue for some time as it is monsoon period, according to the meteorologists. Rain will occur throughout the country for three days due to this. “There are chances of heavy rain in some places of the western and central region,” meteorologist Samir Shrestha said. Normal place of monsoon low pressure trough stretches across and covers North Rajsthan, Haryana, Delhi, south Uttar Pradesh, south Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal of India up to the Bay of Bengal. The Division stated in its weather forecast for the next 24 hours that the weather will remain generally cloudy throughout the country with the possibility of rain accompanied with thunder and lightning in many places. There are chances of heavy rain in one or two places of central and western region. For this reason, the Division has urged the sides concerned to adopt alertness as there is possibility of occurrence of landslides in the hilly region and obstruction of air and road transport as well. The weather will remain generally cloudy throughout the country tonight with chances of light to moderate rain together with thunder and lightning in some places. Tomorrow, it will be partly to generally cloudy throughout the country with possibility of heavy rain in one or two places of the central and western region. On Sunday the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy throughout the country on Sunday with chances of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some places, the Division stated. According to the latest weather data, 44 millimetres (mm) of rain occurred in Kathmandu valley today. Similarly, Dipayal received 3.8 mm, Birendranagar 1.2 mm, Jumla 8.2 mm and Pokhara 1.0 mm rain.
