Kathmandu, June 13(RSS): A 205-member main organising committee has been formed under the convenorship of Prof Dr Rajendra Subedi in view of the ‘Himwatkhand Art Literature Conclave’ to be organised by the Madan Bhandari Academy of Art and Literature to commemorate the 205th Bhanu Jayanti (birth anniversary of poet Bhanu Bhakta Acharya).
The three-day conclave will kick off on June 13, the Academy said.
Bhanu Bhakta (1814-1868) was born in the then Chundi Ramgha of Tanahu district and he had earned enormous popularity among the people for the translation of great epic Ramayan from Sanskrit into Nepali. He has been honoured with the title of Adikavi ( first poet) in the Nepali literature and his birth anniversary falls on Asar 29 every year in the Nepali calendar.—
